Two citizens will become US Senators. They will represent their citizens at American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation in July. There is a combination selection/election process for this office. Candidates will participate in a city and county interview process. Each city will send a candidate to county interviews. One candidate from each will then move forward. There will be a candidate's forum from the stage consisting of questions on current events in US government as well as "whistle stops." The purpose of the whistle stops is to present your bill to the citizens and allow them time to ask questions about or make suggestions for changes to your bill.
No matter what office your hold at ALA IGS, you CAN run for US Senator. This is the only time you can hold an office AND run for an office. You do not have to forfeit the office you already have.
